My yoga journey
About Ashtania Yoga
The Yoga that flows with you and adapts to you
The name Ashtania Yoga was created from the union two words: Ashtanga and Tania
Ashta signifies eight in Sanskrit (Sanskrit is the classical language of India as well as one of the oldest documented Indo-European languages)
Anga means limbs or steps.
Ashtanga are the eight steps described by Patanjali to achieve enlightenment. Originally the name 'Ashtania Yoga' was created thinking about the Ashtanga Vinyasa style of yoga, since it was thanks to it that I felt in love with yoga, and to be honest at that time I did not know who Patanjali was!!
When I started practicing yoga I was only interested on the asanas (postures). I was amazed at what the human body was capable of doing...After a while a decided to quit a really well paid and stable job to go to India and became a yoga teacher.
Thanks to an injury in my spine that led me to have a disc replacement and a huge personal crisis, I began to focus more on the most therapeutic part of Yoga. I experienced first hand how this discipline helps not only on a physical level but above all on an emotional and personal level.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to train yoga teachers from all over the world on the subjects of: Pranayama, Philosophy, Hatha, Yin, Ashtanga Vinyasa, sequencing, Vinyasa and alignment.
Curiously, I ended up being the one teaching people not only about the Ashtanga Vinyasa style but also about the eight limbs to enlightenment of Patanjali!!!
My desire to facilitate classes that truly shows that yoga is for EVERYONE led me to specialise myself as a adapted yoga teacher (people with functional diversity), restorative yoga and trauma informed yoga.
For the last three years I have been offering in person yoga classes for small groups as well as private sessions. I also offer online classes for people who are not in my present location or those who prefer to practice with me from the tranquility of their home.
I currently live in Vigo where I offer regular classes as well as one on one classes. I also offer a variety of workshops and yoga retreats around the world.
